For clarity, the car is driveable. Prior to taking off road, it was daily driver for work. The transmission was making an abnormal noise, every once in while. spoke with two different transmission companies and they said that new/rebuilt transmission will cost around $3k. They did not inspect the vehicle. In speaking with tge transmission companies, they both have seen rav4 transmission problems. Sometimes it is computer chip issue, sometimes not. Assume that you will need to have transmission work done. am trying to be as clear as possible. would not plan to drive long distance, but certainly local or on/off trailer makes sense. Because need dependable daily driver car, did not pursue getting the repair. drive lot and can not afford to be with out vehicle.
